whirligig
Designed for the thresholds of luxury hospitality, whirligig creates territory without walls. A tensile canopy and daybed system that gives outdoor spaces a sense of privacy and calm, without ever closing them off.
The concept balances cappellini's spirit of experimentation with lissoni's architectural restraint. Rather than building physical boundaries, whirligig works with perceptual ones. The brain finds comfort in spaces that blend exposure and concealment, and the canopy's form does exactly that.
A mesh parasol flexes on fibreglass rails around a rotating steel mast, sheltering four poufs and a pair of connecting tables below. Every material is chosen for outdoor life: water-shedding boucle, corrosion-resistant fibreglass, and matte powder-coated metals that age quietly in the sun.
